Katrin Winkler untersucht in ihrer Arbeit „nicht nur A.“ postkoloniale Strukturen und die damit verbundene heutige Sicht auf ehemalige Kolonien. Ausgangsmaterial der Arbeit sind Bilder eines 1941 in Deutsch-Ost-West-Afrika initiierten Fotobandes „Afrika in Farbe, unsere Kolonien “von Helmut und Erna Blenck. Katrin Winkler dekonstruiert diese Bilder, in dem sie diese abfotografiert und dann fragmentiert. Durch die Fragmentierung und Neuanordnung der Reproduktionen gelingt Katrin Winkler die Dekonstruktion eines kolonialen Narrativs. Verstärkt wird dieses dekonstruktivistische Moment durch die Unterlegung der Bilder durch Textfragmente aus Allain Robbe- Grillet's Erzählung „Die Jalousie oder die Eifersucht“, die keiner chronologisch stringenten Erzählform folgen. Der Titel der Arbeit bezieht sich auf eine z.T. bis heute vorherrschende Verallgemeinerung von Afrika ohne eine konkrete Benennung der einzelnen Länder und verweist unter anderem auf die Vielzahl kolonialer Verbrechen weltweit sowie auf heutige (post-)koloniale Verhältnisse. The video project „not only A“ examines layers of postcolonial structures and a nowadays view on former colonies. The material of the work contains of images of a photo book, initiated in German-South-West Africa in 1941, „Afrika in Farbe, unsere Kolonien “, by Helmut+Erna Blenck“. The images are deconstructed through re-photographing, fragmenting and rearranging each image. With the altered reproductions the attempt is made to deconstruct a colonial narrative. The deconstructive moment is emphasized with a voiceover of text fragments of the essay „Jealousy“ by Allain Robbes Grillet. The french author Grillet- part of the Nouvelle Roman period, which marks a break in classic literature and broke with old conventions and narrative styles. The text does not follow any chronological or stringent form of narration. The title of the work refers to a, to some extent, still dominant generalization of the continent Africa without considering each different country and its own circumstances. Furthermore "not only A." refers to the multiplicity of colonial crimes worldwide as well as to nowadays (post-)colonial conditions. (text by Claudia Tittel)
